Judith Long Photo

Judith A. Long, MD, Co-Director
Dr. Long is Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine as well as a core faculty member in VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion and Co-Director of the Philadelphia VA Patient Aligned Care Team Demo Lab. Dr. Long’s current work focuses on interventions to support behavioral change in low-income patients with chronic diseases.

Rachel Werner, MD, PhD, Co-Director
Dr. Werner is a primary care physician at the Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia and Core Investigator with the VA HSR&D Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP). She is also an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Care Management in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

David A. Asch, MD, MBA, Associate Director
Dr. Asch is the Executive Director of the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation. He is Professor of Medicine and Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine and Professor of Health Care Management and Professor of Operations and Information Management at the Wharton School. He is Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Judy Shea Photo Judy A. Shea, PhD, Qualitative Evaluation Core
Dr. Shea is a Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. From 2013-2015 she was Interim Chief, General Internal Medicine, Associate Dean of Medical Education Research, and Director of the Office of Evaluation and Assessment in the Academic Programs Office, School of Medicine. She serves duals roles, working with faculty and fellows to design and evaluate research projects, and directing the evaluation of the medical school curriculum and faculty.
Leslie Hausmann Photo Leslie Hausmann, PhD, Health Disparities Core
Dr. Hausmann is a Research Health Scientist and Core Investigator at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) and Associate Professor of Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh, Division of General Internal Medicine. She is the Principal Investigator of a pilot study "Improving Patient Health Care Experiences through PACT Cultural Competency Training about Unconscious Bias," funded by the VA Office of Health Equity.

Partners

CEPACT collaborates closely with three research and clinical centers in VISN 4, including the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP), Mental Illness Research Education Clinical, Centers of Excellence (MIRECC), and Performance Reporting and Outcomes Measurement to Improve the Standard of care at End-of-life (PROMISE).

We have strong partnerships with the University of Pennsylvania, based at the schools of Medicine, Nursing, Social Policy and Practice, and the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI).

We also have a dedicated advisory board comprised of VISN and facility leadership and chaired by the VISN director.
