During his visit to the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, Network Director Michael E. Moreland toured the new hemodialysis unit and PET scanner area. Mr. Moreland also met with staff from the emergency room and with Veterans and volunteers throughout the day.

Ribbon cutting ceremony for the new community living center.Butler - November 23
VA Butler Healthcare celebrated the opening of the newly constructed Community Living Center with a housewarming party for resident Veterans and their families. Network Director Michael E. Moreland participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony and met with CLC residents.

During his visit to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Network Director Michael E. Moreland participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the North East Consolidated Patient Account Center.

Michael Moreland visited Wilmington VAMC to receive an update on the construction and discuss issues of concern with department managers. Moreland went on to tour the new OEF/OIF wing and the new emergency department.

Groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospice center.Coatesville - August 23
Coatesville staff officially broke ground on an 11,000 square foot, $4.4 million, world-class Hospice. Congressional staff, veterans service officers, design and construction firms representatives, and leadership participated in the celebration.

Mr. Moreland made a regular site visit to James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona, Pa. on June 8. Highlights of his visit included a tour of the renovated Community Living Center and the construction site for the new physical medicine and rehabilitation building.

Highlights of his visit included sessions with medical center leadership and a tour of VA Butler’s new state-of-the-art Community Living Center currently under construction. Mr. Moreland made a regular site visit to the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia on Feb. 22. Highlights of his visit included sessions with medical center leadership as well as a first-hand look of the new fully automated laboratory system. Mr. Moreland also toured the facility and met with Veterans, volunteers and staff.

Veterans were honored for their service at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Events included ice cream socials, concerts, visits by area sports mascots and athletes, and medical center tours by elected officials. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter visited the facility and met with hundreds of Veterans and VA staff members.

Highlights of Mr. Moreland's visit included sessions with medical center leadership and Quality Management staff, as well as a firsthand look at SPD – Sterilized Processing and Distribution. Mr. Moreland also met with the staff and toured the interventional cardiology lab, which recently performed its first interventional cardiac procedure.
