Site Visit - Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center

VISN 4 Interim Network Director Carla Sivek visited Philadelphia for the May 2 official renaming of the Medical Center to the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Corporal Crescenz, the only Vietnam-era serviceman from Philadelphia to receive the Medal of Honor, was 19 years old when he was killed in action on Nov. 20, 1968, while charging multiple North Vietnamese machine-gun bunkers during an ambush.

During her visit, Sivek met with Corporal Crescenz' family prior to the ceremony and later attended the event which honored a man who was awarded the Nation's highest military honor for his sacrifice.

Visit the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Facebook page to view more photos and a view brief video from the renaming event.
