On behalf of the men and women who staff the hospitals, clinics, Vet centers and other health care facilities in our region, and those who serve you as VA volunteers, I wish you a very happy, safe and, above all, healthy holiday season.

I know you have a choice in health care providers, and we are all very proud you have chosen VISN 4 to meet your needs. These are exciting times in VISN 4. Our network is in the process of becoming an even more patient-centered system.

Soon, you and your family will be even more involved in designing the care you receive. Our services will be designed around your needs and wants, and the care we provide will always be both sensible and humane. The future is very bright, and we believe you will be delighted with the changes we're making.

Our network already receives some of VA's highest patient satisfaction ratings. I am grateful for this expression of your confidence in us, and in our ability to provide you the world-class health care you have earned because of your service to our nation.

Among things we're proud of is the quality of health care we provide. We recently compared VISN 4's performance measurements with those of the top five health care facilities in U.S. News and World Report's "Best Hospitals for 2010" list, and overall, our network was very competitive with all of them. This means that the health care you receive from VISN 4 is not only as good as any in our region, it is as good as the best in the entire United States.

I often walk the halls of our hospitals and clinics to meet and talk with Veterans and their families. If you see me at your facility, please say hello. I'd love to hear how you are doing, what you think of the care you are receiving and any ideas you may have on how we may serve you better in the future.

Thanks to our Veterans for your service to our nation, and to everyone else for supporting them. And thank you for your interest in our network.

All of us at VISN 4 wish you joy and happiness in this festive season, and peace and prosperity in the New Year to come.
